SSMI Mission

The Special Ministry to the Aged is one of Cleveland’s first providers of the case management approach to caring for older adults.  Through case management, a client is assessed and monitored so that medical and social needs are met and necessary services are made available. The program's goal is to help older adults who long to live independently in their own homes in familiar surroundings for as long as possible by offering services that support these goals.

Today, as the homebound elderly population continues to grow in size and need, the Sisters are reaching out to serve people of many nationalities beyond their original Slavic Village Eastern European community.

The Sisters’ ministry is truly a sacred journey, integrating Catholic spirituality dedicated to the healing ministry of Jesus in service to their elderly poor and needy clients.  They reach out their hands and their hearts to support the individual physical and social needs and the spiritual well-being of each one of them.  Christ-like, they serve with compassion and understanding, instilling hope where hope has been lost.

As part of the Catholic Charities system, Special Ministry to the Aged is able to give its clients access to the more than 100 other Catholic Charities program and services.
