SSMI 30 Years in Cleveland Celebration a Great Success!!

On Saturday, May 6, 2006 the Sisters celebrated 30 years of ministering to the elderly in Slavic Village and neighboring Cleveland communities at the 4:00 pm Mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Father Ralph Hudak, Pastor of IHM presided. He was assisted by Father Andrew Knapik, Associate, IHM, Father George Kusy, Associate, St. Stanislaus and Father Placyd Kon, OFM, in residence at St. Stanislaus who concelebrated at the Liturgy.

The four members of the current staff of the Special Ministry of the Aged, Sr. Anna Kaszuba Program Director, Sr. Ce Ann Sambor, Sr. Marianna Danko and Sr. Barbara Bugala were joined by their Sisters, benefactors, board members, guests and the IHM parish community to mark this momentous occasion. Provincial Superior, Sr. Krystyna Mroczek, Sr. Carol Carne and Sr. Karolina Michalska attended from the Provincial House in Catonsville, Maryland. Sr. Donna Zielinska and Sr. Mary Imolek from the Sacred Heart Nursing Home in Hyattasville, Maryland, also joined in the celebration. Sr. Krystyna and Sr. Karolina had previously served in the Cleveland ministry.

After Mass more than 200 guests joined the Sisters for light refreshments in the Parish Hall. Thank you to all who shared this celebration with us, especially those who assisted in the Liturgy planning, the after-Mass reception and especially those that provided the delicious pastry.

Following are excerpts from additional "Thank You's" the Sisters received.

Dear Sisters,
So much has happened in 30 years and the Sister Servants have always been a steady and significant presence of Christian charity. Thank you for the wonderful ministery that you and your Sisters have performed in the Cleveland Diocese. In particular, your kind and genuine care for my loved ones will always be remembered. I pray for the Sisters who continue the work that Sr. Amelia led back 30 years ago. I recall in prayer, her, Sr. Irene, and the other SSMI sisters I have met in my life here in Cleveland, Poland and Rome. Your charism is a wonderful witness in our Universal Church. God bless you on the memorable occasion.

Dear Sisters,
God bless you on your anniversary and our congratulations and good wishes are most sincere. Your work in the Diocese of Cleveland has been a true inspiration and reflection of the love Jesus has for us. May God Bless You.

Dear Sisters,
We are truly blessed that you worked in the Diocese of Cleveland. Thank you for saying "YES". You are all so beautiful!! The light of God's love shines through in all that you do and where ever you are. May He bless you abundantly and continuously. Our thanks and prayers and love.
