Special Ministry to the Aged |
Catholic Charities Parish Services |
Good Afternoon!!
On behalf on our entire Community, I want to express our profoundest gratitude, first to our Almighty God, and to you, the good people of Cleveland, on this happpy occasion of our thirtieth anniversary of service in the Diocese of Cleveland.
An anniversary, such as this, is an excellent time for reflection. What is an anniversary? It is more than just simply a marking of time. An anniversary is a link to both the past and to the future.
The past thirty years could not have been accomplished without the help of countless individuals. Our small group of Sisters assigned here - and it has always been small - could never have achieved anything without the support and commitment of others.
And so this anniversary is a link to the memories - for some have gone on to the heavenly kingdom, the various priests, the many religious communities, our first craft group members, the "Golden Agers", the parish families and choirs of Immaculate Heart and St. Lawrence, our colleagues at Catholic Charities, our first group of trustees and advisory board members - all gave of themselves beyond measure. They helped to build the Special Ministry to the Aged.
This anniversary is also a link to the future: new friends, new supporters, individuals who believe in the work being performed by the Sisters here. This anniversary is a link also to the new clients in new locations, reaching beyond Slavic Village, where ever the need presents itself - whether it be in a hospice setting or in the home. The Sisters Servants will, by the grace of our Almighty Father, and the support of you, be ready to continue to answer the call.
